Elders' Statement of Focus and Priorities |First Christian Church of Tulsa

July 2006

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and is our Lord and Savior.
Using Bible study, prayer, and honest, open discussion, we affirm we are called:

  • • To celebrate in diverse forms of worship the gift of God's redemptive love and mercy, as experienced
       in the weekly observance of the Lord's Supper and through Christian baptism;
  • • To invite, embrace, and instruct others to become followers and enable them to discover their gifts
        and accept their calling as ambassadors of Jesus in ministry in our world;
  • • We seek to attract and build leadership among younger generations; and
  • • To provide high quality ministry with older adult members;
  • • To listen and respond with compassion to the human hurts, poverty, and all forms of suffering and discrimination.
  • • We seek to form, equip, and participate on ministry teams that reach out with compassion locally and around the world.
  • • To continually listen to God as we search for changes that must be made in order to redevelop our congregational life.
