Rev. Susan D. Payne

Minister of Administration

Ministry Focus – "Administration is Ministry" is Rev. Susan's guiding principle for her work in the business operations of FCC. Realizing that churches can't serve and minister without an excellent administrative hub, Rev. Susan seeks to prayerfully and faithfully steward all FCC resources – financial, brick and mortar, membership and staff. As an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and 5th generation Disciple, Rev. Susan also serves the church in pastoral areas.

Hobbies and Interests – Rev. Susan plays the piano for enjoyment (and occasionally at former churches she has pastored!). She and her husband Chris like to travel, working a bit of adventure, like white water rafting (Idaho girl), zip-lining or touring ancient ruins and museums, into their time off. Rev. Susan has two adult daughters, Kelsey Hannah (Enid), and Caitlin Raya (Ft. Riley, KS, and Drury University graduate), and three grandchildren, Kaylee, Gabriel and Trinity. Gillian Payne, Rev. Susan's youngest daughter, is a senior at Union High School.

Education – Rev. Susan graduated magna cum laude from Phillips University (Enid) with a Bachelor of Arts in English and areas of emphasis in Business, German and Education. She also earned a Master of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from The University of Oklahoma (including some MBA coursework) and a Master of Divinity degree with Highest Honors from Phillips Theological Seminary (Tulsa). Fun Fact: Rev. Susan's first experience in the chancel of FCC was addressing her seminary graduating class at commencement!
